$75 Maryland Handgun Qualification License Certification Training
With Optional Utah Concealed Carry permit
This course will help you better understand critical Maryland State firearms laws, and also provide you with a solid knowledge base to safely own and operate a handgun. If you have never owned a handgun prior to 10/01/2013, and think you may want to purchase one in the future, then this class is required by the State of Maryland before you're able to purchase your handgun. You DO NOT need this training for a regulated firearm prior to 10/01/2013. For an additional $25, and an additional (approx.) two hours of classroom, you may complete the training requirement for the Utah Concealed Carry permit. The Utah Concealed Carry Weapons Permit allows the permit holder to carry their firearm concealed in any of the 31 listed reciprocating states. THIS PERMIT DOES NOT ALLOW PERMIT HOLDER TO CARRY IN MARYLAND, but it does allow in many surrounding states.

How to Obtain Your Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL)
You must take a training course:
The State of Maryland requires that you take a four hour (minimum) training class.
Submit a LiveScan fingerprint background check to the State of Maryland:
The state requires that you submit to a fingerprint criminal background check before you apply for your HQL license.
Apply for your HQL with the Maryland State Police:
Once you've completed the training requirement, and the criminal background check, you're ready to go through the Maryland State Police online system to apply for your license - and pay the required licensing fee to the state.

After you have completed this training class, the State of Maryland requires that you submit to a LiveScan fingerprint background check to be submitted with your HQL application. This must be done prior applying for your HQL. L5 Tactical works closely with a great company, Essential Support Solutions (ESS), who will be on site the day of your class. For an additional fee of $130, payable to ESS the day of your course, ESS will conduct and submit your LiveScan state fingerprint background check, make your payment to the State of Maryland for your HQL, and then complete and submit your application... and you're done! There is nothing to do but wait for your HQL.
FOR UTAH CCW CLASS:
After you have completed this training class, the State of Utah requires that you submit to a fingerprint background check to be submitted with your application along with passport photographs. This must be done along with your application. For an additional fee of $25, payable to ESS the day of your course, ESS will complete your ink fingerprint cards for your background check, take your passport photographs, assist in completing the permit application and then mail your completed application... and you're done! There is nothing to do but wait for your permit.
NOTE: This does not include the Utah application fee of: $63.25 to the state of Utah, which can be made via a credit card number on your application, or a personal check.
